Students at Olive AP Academy - Cambridge are set to benefit from a generous donation of refurbished laptops, iPads and headphones as part of Cambridge 2030’s Digital Drive. The equipment has been donated from several local organisations, including Costello Medical, Cambridge City Council and Stephen Perse Foundation as part of a local campaign to tackle digital poverty.
Mark Kirby, Head of Academy Olive AP Academy – Cambridge, said:
We are so thankful for the brilliant support we have received from Cambridge 2030’s Digital Drive.
The refurbished laptops and iPads will give our students new opportunities to learn, and the donation is a clear example of our community working together to help our young people.
We would also like to say a particular thank you to Alison Taylor for the amazing work she continues to do in the community of Cambridge.
Julie Spence OBE CStJ QPM, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire and Cambridge 2030 Ambassador said:
“Many laptops kindly donated during the pandemic have reached or are reaching the end of their lives and need to be replaced. Additionally, a whole new cohort of students enter the school system every year, adding to the need for more laptops, tablets and other devices. School budgets are so tight that many schools are unable to replace broken and outdated laptops; add this to the cost-of-living crisis and both schools and families are crying out for help from local businesses with donated laptops and/or funds to purchase them.”
